Sir, — I refer to the article "In the name of political party" ( Nov. 13 ). Parties taking funds for elections from the corporate sector is a worldwide phenomenon. As for the corporates, they need to patronise the parties in power to get favours. The deep-rooted interdependence of money and power cannot be separated.

A.K.J. Tamil Arasan,
Chennai

Sir, — That the BJP is no exception to the practice of accepting money in the name of the party is unfortunate.

If "electioneering" is a potential cause for collection of huge sums it is a cause for greater concern, as our people have to vote for their "conscience" (again a jargon borrowed from our leaders).

Jayasree Saranathan,
Mysore
