** Sachin Tendulkar during his knock of 102, when on 5, became the all-time highest run-getter against the Kiwis. He went past the aggregate of 1362 runs (in 39 matches) held by Australian Mark Waugh. Tendulkar now has 1460 runs in 38 matches. ** The partnership of 182 runs between Virender Sehwag and Tendulkar was India's best for the first wicket against New Zealand bettering the previous best of 169 between Tendulkar & Saurav Ganguly at Bangalore on 14-5-1997. ** The partnership was also the highest for the home team for the opening wicket at this ground. Manoj Prabhakar and Navjot Singh Sidhu had put on 98 against Sri Lanka on 18-2-1994. In fact Sehwag and Tendulkar just failed to go past the best for the first wicket at this venue, which still remains as 185 between Englishmen Graham Gooch and Wayne Larkins against Australia on 19-10-1989. ** India's 353-5 was the 11th score of 350-plus in LOIs. India has now done it on four occasions the maximum by any team in LOIs. South Africa has two such scores, while West Indies, England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Australia have achieved it once. ** Sehwag's 130 was his highest score of his career in 78 matches. He bettered his previous best of 126 made against England at Colombo on 22-9-2002. ** Tendulkar's 102 was his 36th three-figure score of his LOI career in 320 matches. With 64 other scores in the fifties to his credit, he now has exactly 100 scores of 50-plus in LOIs. Sri Lankan Aravinda deSilva (11+64) and Pakistani Inzamamul Haq (8+67) are behind Tendulkar with 75 fifty-plus scores. ** Tendulkar, meanwhile became the fifth batsman to aggregate 1000-plus runs during this calendar year. He now has 1096 run in 20 matches. Australian Ricky Ponting has the most runs 1118 in 33 matches in 2003. ** Gagnuly during his knock of 33, became the third Indian batsman to aggregate over 1000 runs against the Kiwis. He now has 1024 runs in 29 matches. Only Tendulkar (1460 runs in 38) and Azharuddin (1118 in 40) have made more runs for India. ** Rahul Dravid's unbeaten 50 in just 22 balls was the joint second fastest fifty by an Indian batsman in LOIs. The fastest still remains with Ajit Agarkar, who during his innings of 67 not out against Zimbabwe at Rajkot on 14-12-2000 reached his fifty in just 21 balls. Kapil Dev (72 v West Indies at Berbice on 29-3-1983) and Virender Sehwag (55* v Kenya at Paarl on 24-10-2001) are the other Indians who have 22-ball fifties. ** Incidentally, this was Dravid's quickest fifty of his career. He had a 39-ball fifty against West Indies at Nagpur on 9-11-2002.
