This Day That Age
Dhanalakshmi, the `mystery girl' of Coorg was discharged from the Victoria Hospital in Bangalore after having been under observation in an isolated room from October 10. After discharge, Dhanalakshmi said that since May 31, 1952, she had not been eating, till during her stay in the hospital she was enabled to eat and drink. Dr. B. R. Ramalinga Reddi, Director of Medical Services, Bangalore, said that whatever her ailment, Dhanalakshmi was cured, and that she was found eating food and drinking fluids like any normal person. He had told the girl, and her brother, that she was normal. Dr. Reddi said, "We are of the opinion that there is no mystery about her. She must have been eating and drinking in secret unnoticed by others."
