This Day That Age
On the 16th in Singapore, Mr. Malcom MacDonald, British Commissioner-General for South-East Asia, predicted the French-led Viet Nam forces would achieve a decisive victory against Communists in Indo-China within two to three years. He told the Singapore Union of Journalists only in Indo-China can the Communist armed force still be considered a threat to South-East Asia-Indo-China is the highway to the rest of South-East Asia. If the Communists conquer Viet Nam, they will spread to Laos and Cambodia, and thence to Thailand and Burma. They could reach the borders of Pakistan and India in the West, and Malaya in the South. That is why our fortunes are linked with Indo-China's. That is why we should help the French and not obstruct them with criticisms.
