Balaji, who was ignored for the upcoming India's tour of Australia by the national selectors on Saturday night, put behind the disappointment to capture seven for 42 as the host was bundled out for 107 in its second innings in just 52.5 overs. Sunday's win gives Tamil Nadu, which had won its first match against Karnataka by four wickets, five points including a bonus point. Earlier, in reply to Rajasthan's first innings total of 97, Tamil Nadu resumed its innings at the overnight score of 113 for five. Some rearguard action by S. Sarath (44), Balaji (25) and M.R. Srinivas (23) helped it reach 213, a vital 116 run lead. For Rajasthan Rahul Kanwat was the most successful bowler claiming three for 40 while Sanjeev Sharma took two for 44 and Aslam two for 59. The home side was expected to provide some resistance but Balaji bowled with venom to fashion a comprehensive win for Tamil Nadu. Only opener Vineet Saxena played sensibly to make 43 but that was not enough. * The scores: Rajasthan 97 and 107 (L. Balaji seven for 42) lost to Tamil Nadu 213 (S. Badrinath 43, S. Sarath 44, L. Balaji 25, Rahul Kanwat three for 40).
