Astra to market Turbuhaler

By Our Staff Rerpoter

BANGALORE NOV. 17. Astra Zeneca PLC, Anglo-Swedish drug maker, will now sell its Symbicort Turbuhaler, a dry powder formulation inhaler for asthma, in India. A user will have to twist the Turbuhaler, not dissimilar to the way a lipstick is twisted, to get his dosage, which he must then inhale orally.

Lars Walan, Managing Director of Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals India Ltd. (AZPIL), the Indian marketing subsidiary of the MNC, told reporters on Monday, that Symbicort Turbuhaler, costing Rs. 1000 for a 60-dose unit would be available `on prescription only'.

An Astra Zeneca release said Symbicort delivered both the long lasting bronchodilator and the fast acting corticosteroid in the same dose.
