Rupee slumps against $

MUMBAI NOV. 17. The rupee slumped against the U.S. currency today and hit a new one-month low, as heavy allround dollar demand amidst concern over the sustainability of foreign fund inflows, took nearly 13 paise. Stretching losses to the sixth straight session, the rupee closed at 45.54/56 a dollar, sharply lower from last Friday's finish of 45.4150/4250 after dipping to a low of 45.59/60.

Reeling under severe pressure since last week, the rupee has lost around 30 paise in the last six consecutive sessions.The rupee had earlier seen lower levels when it ended at 45.68/70 on October 15, followed by a sharp 37 paise gain the next day to 45.31/33.
