Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Chairman Lala Jajpat Rai memorial Committee Dr Kewal Krishan, Mohinder Singh Kay Pee and Punjab Minister for Technical education were among those who placed petals on the memorial of Lala. Krishan and Singh also went round the martyr's gallery at the memorial where they garlanded the bust of Lala ji. The 27-member Pakistani artistes troupe, which is on a cultural visit, also placed petals at the memorial of Lalaji and also staged a play ``Bullah'' to mark the occasion. Krishan said that the committee has decided to erect a befitting memorial of the Punjab Kesari at the actual place of birth at Dhudike in Punjab at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakhs. Meanwhile in Chandigarh, Punjab Governor, O. P. Verma, gave a call to realise Lala Lajpat Rai's dream based on the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. In a seminar organised by the Servants of People Society on the topic `Re-visioning India', Verma said that when all kind of inequalities -- social, cultural and economic -- abound, one must follow the path shown by Lala ji to bridge the gap between common man and the ruling class. Verma said that Lala ji envisioned India where leaders would live like the common people, eating the food of the common people.
