Mr. Azhagiri, who was arrested on May 21 in connection with the Kiruttinan murder case, was granted conditional bail on August 11, and directed to reside in Bangalore until further orders. On October 17, his first plea for relaxing the conditions and permitting him to return to Madurai was dismissed. Today, passing orders on his fresh petition, Justice M. Chockalingam said Mr. Azhagiri should reside at Vellore and sign in I Judicial Magistrate court there daily, until further orders. He should, however, visit Madurai during all days of hearing and when he was required by the trial court for framing of charges. The order came after the prosecution expressed an apprehension that his return to Madurai would affect the trial as most of the witnesses belonged to the city and surrounding areas.
