BANGALORE NOV. 19. The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, B. Janardhana Poojary, has expressed serious doubts about the fairness of the investigation if the inter-State multi-crore stamp paper racket case is handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, he alleged that the CBI was not trustworthy as it was being misused. There was no need for a CBI inquiry as the Karnataka Police was more efficient than the former.

Mr. Poojary said the CBI had failed in implicating the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, in the Babri Masjid case. Replying to a question, he said there was no evidence so far about the alleged involvement of a Minister in the stamp paper racket.

Earlier, Mr. Poojary paid tributes to the former Prime Minister, late Indira Gandhi, on her 86th birth anniversary.

Participating in a function at the Congress Bhavan, Mr. Poojary said people from all communities and religions admired Ms. Gandhi's secular policies. The minorities felt safe when she was the Prime Minister.

The Minister for Home, Mallikarjun Kharge, said Ms. Gandhi's was committed to uplifting the poor for which she had come up with the 20-point and 10-point economic programmes.
