Kokje called for suspect action

Rajkot Nov. 19. India under-19 offspinner Amal Kokje was called for chucking by former international umpire V.K. Ramaswamy on day two of the three day match against Sri Lanka `A' at the Race Course Ground here on Wednesday.

Supervising proceedings from the striker's end when Kokje was bowling umpire Ramaswamy signalled a no ball for the first time indicating that Kokje had violated Law 24.2 (fair delivery - the arm). He repeated the signal when there was a further violation in the course of a 15-over spell bowled by the offspinner.

Seamer Tharanga Lakshitha bowled superbly for a five wicket haul and the Indian Colts batsmen, mainly Karthik and V.R.V. Singh batted fearlessly to put on 49 runs for the eighth wicket. This after Rakesh Solanki fended a rising delivery to gully off the first ball of the day and the home team lost three more wickets cheaply.

Batting for the second time the visitor made 180 for the loss of three wickets, with Ian Daniel making an attractive half-century. Skipper Naveed Nawaz and Anushka Pollonowita were at the crease adding 59 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket.
