Talking to The Hindu, the Education Minister, Harsh Dev Singh, said: "We are prepared to give recognition to the madrassas functioning in different parts of the State. These schools, no doubt, have helped poor students but the time has come to help them so that the students studying in these schools do not lag behind in employment opportunities as compared to their counterparts in other schools." To secure recognition, the madrassas have to follow the syllabus prescribed by the School Board of Education. They should have a 1:15 teacher-student ratio and amenities such as playground, science laboratory, canteen and adequate space for classrooms.
