Financial consultants for airport modernisation shortly

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI NOV. 19. An empowered Group of Ministers (GoM) today failed to decide on the appointment of a financial consultant for modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports. It may take a few days more before the GoM decides from the consultant from a panel of three-shortlisted firms for the purpose.

During the course of the week a decision will be taken on appointment of financial consultant,'' the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, told reporters after the GoM went through the presentation by three shortlisted firms — ABN Amro, KPMG and Ernst and Young.

Mr. Rudy said the GoM would evaluate and assess the presentations of the three firms and take a decision thereafter. Asked if it would not delay the May 30 deadline for finalising the schedule of the modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports, the Minister said, "We will try and make up for it. We want to have the best as this happens to be a mega infrastructure project,'' he said.

The GoM, headed by the Union Finance Minister, Jaswant Minister, has the Disinvestment and Communication Minister, Arun Shourie, and the Law Minister, Arun Jaitley, as its members.
