Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Questions at the weekly programme were fielded by the Additional Commissioner (AC), Planning, Satyanarayana, assisted by AC, Health and Sanitation, G. Malsur, Chief Engineer, APTransco, Regional Manager, RTC, C. Panduranga Murthy and others. Responding to the appeal, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, G.R. Ravinder Reddy, said for the past few months, the police had been striving to curb the usage of mobile phones by motorists. ` Every month, we have an intensive drive and penalise motorists by slapping a fine of Rs. 100 or Rs. 200, depending on the vehicle. But it is also a matter of social responsibility,' he said. Sriramulu from Gandhi Nagar complained that his son Sridhar and a friend, Vijay Raj Kumar had paid Rs. 60,000 each in February to one Chaitanya Reddy, a consultant in Narayanguda on a promise that he would get them jobs in Malaysia. The consultant had also taken their original certificates saying he wanted them for `stamping'. But when there was no further action on his part, the duo had lodged a complaint with the Narayanguda police. Mr. Ravinder Reddy promised to look into the matter and see that they got their certificates back. `I shall contact the officers concerned and get more information on the case,' he promised. A resident of Bagh Lingampally, Rama Devi, complained that their footpaths in the area had been encroached upon by those belonging to poorer sections. Mr. Satyanarayana urged her to bear with it for a while as houses being built for them under the Valmiki Ambedkar Awaz Yojana would be ready in a couple of months.
