Rupee recovers from early low

MUMBAI NOV. 21. The rupee ended barely changed against the U.S. currency today, rallying smartly from early two-month low on the back of fresh exporter dollar sales and unwinding of long dollar positions by banks ahead of the weekend.

In hyper volatile trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee closed at 45.75/76 a dollar, little changed from yesterday's close of 45.75/77 after tumbling to two-month low of 45.94/96 in late morning deals, pulled down by hectic dollar demand amidst falling foreign fund inflows. It opened distinctly weak at 45.85/86, as sentiment was affected due to global terrorist attacks. The RBI fixed the reference rate for the U.S. currency at Rs. 45.84 and for the single European unit at Rs. 54.52.
