CPI(M), DSS seek ban on Datta Jayanti

By Our Special Correspondent

GULBARGA Nov. 22. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Sagar) today demanded that the State Government ban the Datta Jayanti celebrations proposed to be organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal at Bababudangiri from December 6.

Addressing separate press conferences here, the CPI(M) State Secretariat members, Maruti Manpade and S.V. Gurushant, and the DSS State convener, D.G. Sagar, said the Government should prevent the activists of the VHP and the Bajrang Dal from going ahead with their programme.

Mr. Sagar said the Government should issue notice to the President of the BJP State unit, H.N. Ananth Kumar, for making inflammatory statements on the Bababudangiri controversy.
