David Arokiaraj struck home (12th min) after a melee ensued near the goalmouth. St. Paul's kept up the momentum with frequent raids from Allen Rajesh, Hari Krishnan threatening the fragile Kumararaja HSS defence. S. Raja (31st min) converted a penalty corner to make it 2-0. Throughout the first half, St. Paul's was not entirely convincing, even though its forwards made numerous raids into Kumararaja territory. After the lemon break, St. Paul's began to assert its dominance and more importantly began to convert the opportunities. David got into action scoring his second goal (36th min) by deftly pushing home when a fierce shot from Hari Krishnan resulted in a melee giving ample time for David. Soon, Raja (44th) perplexed the defence by weaving his way to push in a deft backhander. Through its forwardline of Johnson, Santhosh and Vikram, Kumararaja made some impressive moves, but they fizzled out quickly. Moreover, its weak defence did not help things. Kumararaja reduced the margin through Santhosh (46th min) who did a fine solo. St. Paul's completed the tally when Hari Krishnan (47th min) scored the team's fifth goal. In another match, Railway HSS (Pallakad) trounced Bhavan's Junior College (Hyderabad) 13-0, with Rajesh Kumar (6), Naveen (4), Mohd. Hakkeem (1), Bijoy (1) and Jijiu (1) finding the target.
