Sushovan stopped giant-killer Souvik Kar 4-2 in a one-sided final. Souvik had scalped three seeds on way to the title round and raised visions of the fourth when burly Sushovan stopped him at 8-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7. Tall and lanky, Neha did not give Joyeeta any chance in beating her 11-7, 11-4, 11-9, 11-9. Men's second seed A. Sharath Kamal and his PSPB teammate and fourth seed Soumyadeep Roy made it to the summit clash in contrasting style. Sharath Kamal, in search of his third title of the year after having won the Western and Southern India rankings, found third-seeded Subhajit Saha of PSPB a difficult customer in the semifinals. Three games to one up, Kamal lost the rhythm to concede the next two games before subduing Saha in the decider. Despite the close battle, Sharath Kamal superiority was never in doubt. In the other semifinal, former National champion Arup Basak of PSPB failed to put up a good fight against fourth-seeded Roy. In winning the match 11-6, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6, Roy found Basak a spent force. Women's top seed Poulami Ghatak made it to the fifth final of the year outplaying fifth seed Anindita Chakraborty of RSPB at 11-3, 12-10, 11-5, 11-9. Poulami, champion in Western, Southern and Inter-institutional championships and runner-up at the Central, would play Mamta Prabhu in the ladies' final. Mamta defeated Nandita Saha of PSPB at 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7. Two Centre of Excellence (CoE) boys, Subhadeep Das and Soumyajit Sarkar, would fight it out in the boys' singles final while Anusree Saha of CoE and Sayantika Kundu of Bengal would figure in the girls' final. Das, en route to the final, upset top seed Aniket Koparkar of Maharashtra while Anusree surprised top seed S. Sangeetha of Tamil Nadu in the semifinals. Neha, who lost to Sayantika in the last four stage, had shocked second seed Pallavi Kundu of CoE in the quarterfinals. All the four finals would be played on Sunday. Men's top seed S. Raman conceded his quarterfinal match against Arup Basak owing to a muscle pull on his back suffered on Friday evening. The results: Men's semifinals: 4-Soumyadeep Roy (PSPB) bt 9-Arup Basak (PSPB) 11-6, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6; 2-A. Sharath Kamal (PSPB) bt 3-Subhajit Saha (PSPB) 2-11, 11-6, 11-8, 12-10, 5-11, 8-11, 12-10.
