Rain in Lakshadweep

CHENNAI NOV. 22. Rainfall occurred at many places over Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu. Isolated rainfall occurred over Rayalaseema, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal and north interior Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm: Pondicherry Airport, Thiruthuraipoondi (Thiruvarur dt.) and Nagapattinam 5 each, Cuddalore, Karaikal, Vedaranyam and Mavelikara (Alapuzha dt.) 4 each, Tambaram, Srimushnam (Cuddalore dt.), Sirkali (Nagapattinam dt.), Polur and Vandavasi (both Thiruvannamalai dt.), Thiruvannamalai and Minicoy 3 each, Kanchipuram, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt.) and Harur (Dharmapuri dt.) 2 each and Chennai, Chennai Airport, Poondi, Red Hills and Cholavaram (all Thiruvallur dt.), Chengam (Thiruvannamalai dt.), Thiruvallur, Parangipettai, Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), Pudukottai, Thiruchirapalli, Thiruchirapalli Airport, Kuppam and Palamaner (both Chittur dt.) and Agathi Airport 1 each.

The minimum temperature fell appreciably at one or two places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, rose appreciably at one or two places over coastal and south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, rose at one or two places over south coastal Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and changed a little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably above normal at a few places over Rayalaseema, at one or two places over coastal and south interior Karnataka, above normal at one or two places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, north coastal Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and Kerala and were generally normal over rest of the region.

Gulbarga recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 13 degree Celsius in the plains of the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Monday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Kerala, Lakshadweep, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalseema and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka.
