"I have got no communication from BCCI or MCA so far about the Board inquiry,'' said the Maharashtra player, after facing the MCA inquiry committee in Pune on Saturday. "I told them my side of the matter,'' Kale answered, speaking to The Hindu on the phone from Pune, in reply to a question about contents of his explanation before MCA's three-member probe body. The BCCI president, Jagmohan Dalmiya, had on Friday appointed Mr. Rao as one-man inquiry committee to look into bribery allegations against the player, after selectors Kiran More and Pronob Roy made a written complaint to the Board. The MCA had withdrawn Kale from the Maharashtra squad in Rajkot for a Ranji game against Saurashtra and summoned him to Pune for their own investigation. The player has received backing from his parent unit, with MCA publicly talking of support to him after listening to his explanation about the alleged Rs.20 lakh bribery offer. Avinash Ghatpande, a MCA official, said: "The MCA is convinced that Abhijit Kale is innocent and will back him all the way.'' He also informed that the inquiry committee which questioned the player will submit a report on November 23, 2003 and will be taken up the next day by the MCA committee.
