Grahak Shakti forming e-groups

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Nov. 22. Grahak Shakti, a city-based consumer rights organisation, has started forming e-groups of consumers. "The idea is to network consumers with the latest developments in consumer rights activities and information about related events," V.K. Somasekhar, Managing Trustee of the organisation, says.

Grahak Shakti brings out a monthly newsletter, but the feedback is that the frequency of receiving news is inadequate. The e-group (gs-e-group@india.com) is intended to be a forum for exchanging ideas on consumerism, help, and discussion. "The emphasis is on sharing useful information with others. Sometimes a member may receive information that she or he already has, but it can be put online to reach others who may not have it," Mr. Somasekhar says. Those subscribing to the newsletter will be automatically included in the e-groups. They could pose questions to the NGO's Experts Cell on consumer rights.
