According to police, the bodies of Somashekara Rao (48) and his wife, Suma (42), were found hanging from the ceiling of their house on 2nd Cross, Thyagarajanagar. Police said Mr. Rao opted for voluntary retirement from Canara Bank two years ago. The reason for the suicide is not known. The bodies have been sent to the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences for autopsy. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
Youths die in accident
Two young cloth merchants were killed in a road accident in Bagepalli police station limits in Kolar district on Friday night. According to reports reaching Bangalore, a car bound for Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh hit a motorcycle near Beechanahalli Cross around 9.30 p.m. Nayaz Pasha (18) and Habibullah (20), who were riding the motorcycle, were killed on the spot. Pasha and Habibullah were cloth merchants and residents of Bagepalli. They were on their way home from Somenahalli when the accident occurred. Bagepalli police have seized the car and registered a case.
Two more fatal mishaps
Two people were killed in road accidents reported from Ulsoor Gate and Kalasipalya police station limits in Bangalore. Police said a man aged around 45 years was killed on the spot when a private bus hit his scooter near Minerva Circle around 6.30 a.m. on Saturday. He has not been identified. Kalasipalyam police have arrested the driver and seized the bus. Veerabhadrappa (64) of 4th Block, Rajajinagar, who suffered serious injuries when an autorickshaw hit his scooter near K.R. Circle around 6.45 a.m. on Friday, died of injuries at NIMHANS on Friday night, police said. Ulsoor Gate police have registered a case.
Chain snatched
Some persons in an autorickshaw snatched a gold chain worth Rs.11,000 from Komala in Ashoknagar police station limits on Friday night. Police said the incident occurred near her house in Shanthinagar around 11.30 p.m. A case has been registered.
Two held on theft charge
Upparpet police have arrested Rama (20) of Penakonda taluk in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh on a charge of vehicle theft and recovered a scooter from him. Police said the accused had allegedly stolen the scooter from Upparpet police station limits. Ramamurthynagar police have arrested Syed Mujahid Ahmed (39) of Chamundinagar, near R.T. Nagar, on a charge of theft and recovered angle-irons worth Rs. 90,000, which were used to fix a hoarding.
