The police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse an angry mob. As many as 60 persons have been taken into custody. The police said the trouble started when some youths of a particular community teased a girl from another community. Efforts by the police to bring in a compromise between the groups did not yield result. The Superintendent of Police, Vipul Kumar, was camping in the village. The DGP, T. Madiyal, told The Hindu that the situation in the village was under control. Sounshi, which adjoins Gudageri, was also gripped by tension when miscreants damaged a place of worship on Saturday night. The police said the situation in the village was now peaceful.
