Gulf Air's new initiative

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE NOV. 24. In its bid to capture the growing Indian travel market, Gulf Air has worked out a strategy to operate flights from different cities and introduce "attractive packages.'' After a successful launch of operations from Bangalore on October 27, Gulf Air will connect Kolkata on Wednesday, its seventh destination.

The General Manager of Gulf Air (India), John Anderson, said the airline was looking at tour packages that would include accommodation at hotels (such as the ones offered by airlines from the Far East). This may take off before the New Year's eve. Besides complimentary accommodation, the airline was contemplating various incentives to travellers. The Formula One Grand Priz to be held in Bahrain in April next would be an attraction and Gulf Air would be working out packages for that too, as there were a large number of Formula One fans in this part of the world.

Gulf Air Holiday which promoted various holiday destinations across the world would be thinking of more destinations in India in the year 2004. The operations from Bangalore follow the commercial agreement signed between Gulf Air and Indian Airlines as per which Gulf Air will operate twice-weekly flights.
