Id-ul-Fitr today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov. 24. The Palayam Imam, P. K. Hamsa Maulavi, has said that Tuesday will be observed as Id-ul-Fitr. The Imam will lead the `perunal namaz' at the Palayam Juma Masjid at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a press release issued by the Palayam Muslim Jamaat general secretary, M. Salim, said here today.

According to a Kozhikode report, the Samyukta Mahal Jamaat has announced that Id-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow as the moon was sighted near Kappad here this evening. The Khazis of Kozhikode, Kannur, Malappuram and Thrissur, Kanthapuram A.P. Abubeker Musliar, K. P. Hamsa Musliar, Nellikutha Ismail Musliar, V. P. Pookoya Thangal, the representative of Palakkad Khazi, M. M. Abdullah Musliar, and the Beypore Khazi, P. T. Abdullah Koya Musliar, also said that Id-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow.

A few readers have pointed out certain inaccuracies with regard to the timings mentioned in a chart indicating the phase of the moon carried in the issue of November 24 on Page 4.
