Letters to the Editor
Sir, Your editorial "On the wrong track" ( Nov. 24 ) highlights the wrong doing of the Shiv Sena. Too many people and organisations seem to exercise power but without a sense of responsibility in our country. How can we Indians expect a large chunk of the benefits of globalisation if we subscribe to the narrow "sons of the soil" theory for short-term gains?
R. Gopal,
Sir, The attacks on the Railway Recruitment Board in Mumbai and the threatening of candidates appearing for the lower level examinations at the suburban stations by Sena activists pose a threat to democracy and the right to peaceful coexistence. The Sena's attitude towards many other issues, such as the celebration of Saint Valentine's Day, is another example of its convoluted thinking.
Swati Mathur,
