Narayana Murthy `most admired'

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Nov. 25. The personal branding of the Infosys founder, N.R. Narayana Murthy, appears to be intact, with business school students across the country naming him the "most admired businessman" for the third consecutive year in the third Annual Management Student Study conducted by the Bangalore-based consulting firm, brand-comm.

While the margin between Mr. Murthy and others continues to be wide, the Ambanis trail him. According to the survey, Mr. Murthy is admired for being a visionary and for his value systems. The Ambanis seem to be admired for the same qualities as their late father, including entrepreneurship, vision, and leadership skills. Also surprising is that no new names were cited by significant number of respondents over the last three years. The B-school students participating in the study, who are in the pre-placement category, named HLL and Infosys as the most attractive Indian companies to work for.

HLL was chosen for the training ground it provides and its brand name, while Infosys scored heavily on factors such as work environment and culture. A majority of the management students seemed to want to become entrepreneurs.
