The Immigration Department of the Malaysian Government has launched the visa on arrival for Indian nationals visiting their country if they combine Malaysia with Thailand or Singapore. These visas will be issued from two entry points the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar, Tanjung Kupang - Johor Bahru, the entry point by road from Singapore. The visa is valid only for Indian nationals visiting Malaysia for tourism. Travellers need to have a valid Thailand or Singapore visa and should enter only from the above two entry points to avail themselves of the facility. Also, no extension beyond the stipulated 14 days will be entertained and the traveller should have a valid, confirmed return air tickets. The cost of this speical tourism visa is Rs.650. P. Manoharan, Director, Tourism Malaysia, India, said the facility coincided with Malaysia hosting a mega shopping sale carnival which is on till January 4, 2004. He said in association with the leading travel agents, a special All-India mega sale package had been launched to woo shopping enthusiast. This package valid till March 31, 2004, would provide for 6 nights/7 days stay at a price of Rs. 26,999 will cover the return airfare, four-star luxury accommodation on twin sharing basis with breakfast and transfers and sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. The trip include two nights at Kuala Lumpur, three nights at Penang and one night at Genting.
