TV journalists get threat calls

Mumbai Nov. 25 . Three journalists working with various news television stations here have received threatening phone calls. These calls have been coming for the last four days and in one case, the caller even abused the correspondent for his reportage on the fake stamp papers scam.

Jitendra Dixit of `Star News' got a call on November 21 and filed a case with the N.M. Joshi Marg police station two days later. The other two, Sanjay Singh of `NDTV' and Mandar Parab of `Sahara Samay' got the calls in the wee hours today.

While Parab is planning to file a case with the MIDC police station later today, Mr. Singh has already done so with the Gamdevi police station. According to Mr. Singh's complaint, the unidentified caller had called him up at his residence at 0030 hrs and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not stop reporting on underworld activities. When contacted this evening, Mr. Singh confirmed that he had filed a complaint following the threatening call but did not wish to say anything more. In Parab's case, he, too, received a similar call at about the same hour wherein the caller warned him on his reportage on the underworld and the Telgi case. — UNI
