West Bengal's new leather complex

By Our Staff Correspondent

KOLKATA NOV. 25. The West Bengal Government expects the leather complex to become operational in full swing by next fiscal. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of work, the State Commerce and Industries Minister, Nirupam Sen, today said 150 to160 tanneries were expected to shift their shop by the end of this fiscal. Earlier, the Calcutta High Court ordered shifting of tanneries due to high degree of pollution. A similar move is on to relocate the foundries from the Howrah city.

Addressing the members of the Merchants' Chamber of Commerce here today, Mr. Sen said in the last three years the State had witnessed a slow but steady growth in investments in the manufacturing sector.
