The Anti-Forgery Section of the EOW got a complaint from Surender Singh, a resident of Dabri, that a person, later identified as Kamal Sharma, had given him a voter ID after charging Rs. 800. He had also promised him that his name would be included in the voter list. However, the card turned out to be a fake one. Following investigations, the police arrested Kamal, Anil Kumar and Vishal Jain. A search of their office at Kotla Mubarakpur led to the recovery of 12 fake voter ID cards, a large number of holograms, lamination sheets, photographs of prospective beneficiaries, three software CDs and other accessories. Interrogation of the accused revealed that AIM Consultants, operating from Kotla Mubarakpur, were awarded the contract of making voter ID cards in South-West and East Delhi between July and September.
