`Congress violating Code'

Jaipur Nov 25. Indian National Lok Dal (INLD)'s Rajasthan Unit has complained to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), J M Lyngdoh, against the Congress' alleged violation of the model code of conduct at the hustings, a Party functionary said today.

INLD State president Jai Narayan Punia said in a statement here that he had stated in his complaint sent to the CEC that ``on the one hand, some Administrative Authorities were helping the Congress candidates by various means, and on the other, they were harassing his party's nominees''.

Citing an example of breach of model code of conduct, he alleged that Congress-ruled Punjab's Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, had sent a large number of vehicles to Laxmangarh constituency in Alwar district for electioneering in favour of Congress candidate.

From the seat, Jagat Singh-- son of senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh-- is in the fray.

On the contrary, he maintained that in Phulera constituency, his party's activists were campaigning but, a police officer Ramswaroop Sharma had allegedly been harassing them. -- UNI
