Reports reaching here said a minor dispute between a jeep driver, Wajid, and a passenger, Gopal, on Monday night triggered trouble. The issue took a communal colour this morning when a group of persons belonging to a particular community arrived at the Mudhole bus stand area and entered into an argument with the jeep driver and those standing nearby. The jeep driver and the cleaner allegedly assaulted a passenger after a row over payment of charge. The passenger, instead of going to the police, met the Mudhole MPP chief, Madhava Rao Desai. Today, the MPP chief along with others came to the bus stand area to discuss the issue. But, the jeep driver allegedly had mobilised people. Tempers ran high and two groups clashed with iron rods, sticks, knives and hurled stones at each other. Tension mounted as the clash resulted in injuries to 15 persons.
