J&K avoids innings defeat

Rohtak Nov. 24. Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) today succeeded in avoiding innings defeat at the hands of host Haryana in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group `A' league match played at the local Maharaja Aggarsain Stadium here on Tuesday.

The visitors, needing 208 runs to avoid an innings defeat, were 229 for five on the close of the third day's play, with Dhruv Mahajan (42 not out) and Majid Dar (30 not out) on the crease at stumps.

Brief scores: Haryana 306 vs. Jammu and Kashmir 96 & 227 for five (Ashwani Gupta 44, Kanwaljeet Singh 41, Dhruv Mahajan 42 batting)
