This Day That Age
British Premier Sir Winston Churchill turned down on the 26th a suggestion made in the House of Commons that he should urge France and the United States, along with Britain, to make a joint declaration assuring immediate support for Siam, Burma, Pakistan, or India in the event of direct or indirect aggression against them. Sir Winston said, ``The integrity of any free country threatened by aggression, particularly when the country is a member of the Commonwealth, is naturally of the closest concern to the British Government as a loyal member of the United Nations. Hence no additional or particular declarations appear to be necessary."
