Sad plight

Sir, — It is heartening to note that most of the Tamil Nadu Government employees dismissed for going on strike have been reinstated.

However, the worst fears have come true in the case of 587 employees. They should also be reinstated.

Sir, — There is a fundamental flaw in the way the issue has been handled. Lakhs of employees went on strike but only a few have been penalised.
