Letters to the Editor
Sir, The RJD leader, Laloo Prasad Yadav's visit to Assam following the attacks on Biharis there reminded me of Mahatma Gandhi's pre-Partition visit to the riot-torn Noakhali region [now in Bangladesh]. Mr. Yadav's courage and his pan-Indianness must be lauded.
V.S. Sankaran,
Sir, I appreciate the visit. Mr. Yadav has at least made an attempt to restore normality in Assam.
N. Venkatesan,
Sir, Politicians of all hues are to be blamed for the violence in Assam, Bihar and Maharashtra over the Railway Recruitment Board examinations. They sowed the seeds of disunity and hatred among the people for their own ends.
V. Padmanabhan,
Sir, People from Bihar cannot be blamed for going to Assam to take a test in the hope of getting a job. The State Governments should create more job opportunities so that people do not feel the need to go elsewhere for employment.
V. Rajesh,
