Chasing Zimbabwe's total of 229, the visitors were dismissed for 208 in the 48th over. Chris Gayle scored 61 and captain Brian Lara made 34, while Blignaut scalped four wickets. Earlier Mark Vermeulen and Heath Streak combined to put together a total of 229. Vermeulen scored 66, the same number that effectively won the second one-day International in Bulawayo, while Streak was undefeated with 65. Lower down Tatenda Taibu hit out for 37 not out. Streak and Taibu partnered for 90 runs to give the Zimbabwe score some respectability after slow run-getting earlier on as wickets fell. With Mervyn Dillon, recalled to the side, leading the assault, he conceded only 32 in 10 overs, the West Indies bowlers kept a tight rein on the home team. They also slowed down the Zimbabwe batsmen by taking wickets frequently enough to cause concern. It was not until the 42nd over that they passed four an over.
