Karnataka's M.R. Darshan claimed seven wickets in first innings and Umesh Karve bagged six wickets in the second innings but Hyderabad managed to escape innings defeat by skin of its teeth. But the two points gained from the drawn match took Karnataka's tally to unassailable 18 points. Even if it loses to Tamil Nadu (eight points) in its last match, Karnataka will top the table. Andhra captain A.G. Pradeep scored an unbeaten century (101, 6x1, 4x10) in the second innings but Tamil Nadu managed to draw the game at Ukku Stadium. Points position at the end of fourth and penultimate round-robin matches: 1. Karnataka (16), 2. Tamil Nadu (8), 3. Andhra (6), 4. Hyderabad and Kerala (4 each). 6. Goa (0).
