Bengal, which lost to Rajasthan and Karnataka earlier, gained two points from this match. However, Tamil Nadu did not receive any points, and remained with nine points. Resuming at 110 for two, Tamil Nadu amassed 397 runs for the loss of four wickets when the match was called off after the fall of Badrinath's wicket. Badrinath's 190 was his second century in Ranji, and also his highest. He also had two valuable partnerships with Madanagopal and Sharath for the third and fourth wickets. His century included 20 fours and one six in his 468-minute stay and faced 346 balls. The partnership with Sharath, who was unbeaten with 101 runs, produced 229 runs in 225 minutes in 56.1 overs. The third wicket partnership between Badrinath and Madanagopal contributed 98 runs in 46 overs. Bengal's Shiv Shankar Paul, who was responsible for Tamil Nadu's first innings collapse, claimed 10 wickets conceding 147 runs. Brief scores: Bengal 400 drew with Tamil Nadu 188 & 397 for four (S. Badrinath 190, S. Sharath 101 n.o., J.R. Madanagopal 42; Shiv Shankar Paul three for 103). PTI
