Jawans accused of rape ransack police outpost

Kokrajhar Nov. 27. Two armymen allegedly raped a girl, and when the matter was reported to police they ransacked a police outpost in Assam's Kokrajhar district today.

Police said two army personnel allegedly raped the girl who was alone in her house at Maliapore village on Wednesday night.

A case was registered at the Sapekata police outpost this morning and the victim was brought to a hospital for medical examination.

At this stage, the jawans went to the police outpost and allegedly smashed furniture, threw out official records and attempted to assault the policemen there.

Army sources here said the Brigadier of the Pasorghat Itaguri army camp rushed to the police outpost and an inquiry was being conducted.

A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident and its report was expected to be submitted within three days, official sources said. — PTI
