Hindustan Lever official's house attacked

By Barun Das Gupta

GUWAHATI Nov. 27. The Commercial Officer of the Hindustan Lever Personal Product factory had a providential escape when a rocket fired by suspected ULFA militants hit a flat in the company's Raidang Tea Estate at Dum Duma in Tinsukia district in Upper Assam last midnight.

However, there was no casualty.

The officer, Mr. Shubhendu Uzir, and his wife who were asleep escaped unhurt. A refrigerator and some kitchenware were destroyed and a waterpipe was damaged.

On September last the ULFA had served an extortion notice of Rs. 1 crore on Hindustan Lever.

The ULFA which was banned on November 27 in 1990, has been observing the day by resorting to some such attacks every year.
