Elaborate rituals were performed during "Bhatta Muhurta". After completing "navagraha puja" at the math, scholars, devotees, and staff of the math took out a procession with a golden palanquin carrying a bag of paddy covered with silk cloth. Those taking part in the procession offered prayers at Sri Chandramouleshwara and Sri Ananteshwara temples. They entered Sri Krishna Temple where prayers were offered to Lord Krishna, Lord Mukhyaprana, Bhojanashale Mukhyaprana, Lord Subramanya, and Yati Vrindavana. The paddy "murras" were then taken to "Badagu Malige", the storehouse for the paryaya. The "murras" were placed on a platform and the priests conducted rituals at 9.05 a.m. during "Dhanur Lagna". Later, a procession was taken out on Car Street. "Navagraha danas" were given to scholars and representatives of the math. Bannanje Govindacharya, scholar, spoke about the importance of "Bhatta Muhurta". A chariot made out of firewood ("Kattige Ratha") was constructed on one side of the Sri Krishna Temple. A decorated dome was brought along during the procession. It was ceremoniously handed over to the chief architect of the firewood chariot who placed it on top of the chariot. Lord Krishna of Udupi is known as "Anna Brahma". Rituals such as "Baale Muhurta", "Akki Muhurta", "Kattige Muhurta" and "Bhatta Muhurta" are aimed at continuing the tradition of mass feeding. Chittaranjandas Hegde, President of the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC), Venkataramana Muchinthaya, N. Vijay Ballal, Vasudeva Acharya, Y.N. Ramachandra Rao, and Padmanabha Bhat, were present. N. Vijay Ballal of the Paryaya Committee told presspersons that Sri Visvapriya Tirtha, junior swamiji of Admar Math, who would ascend the Paryaya peetha next year, was on a pre-Paryaya tour. The swamiji would reach Mangalore on December 29. He would do "pura pravesha" at Udupi on January 4.
