Advantage for LDF in civic polls

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov. 28. The LDF won 19 of the 28 seats for which by-elections were conducted to the local bodies in the State on Thursday, an official press release today said.

Six seats went to the UDF and three to independent candidates.

The wards won by the LDF were in Vamanapuram block panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kozhikode corporation and the municipalities of Punalur and Ponnani, in addition to the grama panchayats of Kunnathukal, Sreekaryam, Pazhayakunnummel, Kizhuvilam and Athiyannur in Thiruvananthapuram district, Aryankavu and Aadichanallure in Kollam district, Thalavadi in Alappuzha district, Perinjanam and Mooriyad in Thrissur district, Karimpuzha in Palakkad district, Mukkam and Unnikkulam in Kozhikode district and Pozhuthana in Wayanad district.

The UDF wins were in the grama panchayats of Sooranad in Kollam district, Kamakshi in Idukki district, Kalloorkadu in Ernakulam district, Pazhayannur in Thrissur district, Puthunagaram in Palakkad district and Nenmeni in Wayanad district.

The independent candidates won in the grama panchayats of Nayarambalam in Ernakulam district, Ozhoor in Malappuram district and Bododi in Kasaragod district.
