A new system called "e-beat" will replace "point books", which are signed by police at crucial points. The books will be replaced by electronic tags, which resemble an identity card. This will be fixed on the wall. Policemen on patrol have to press these tags with a device called "reader", which is carried by them in a pouch attached to their belts. The device records the number of the policeman, along with the date and time. The respective inspectors at the police stations will monitor this system. The training programme on this system was inaugurated by S. Mariswamy, Police Commissioner, inaugurated the three-day training programme on Thursday. The first phase of training is being given to policemen attached to Banaswadi, Mico Layout, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar, and Adugodi police stations.
