The meeting decided to start more post-graduate and doctoral degree courses in the Veterinary College, Mannuthy, Kelappaji Agricultural Engineering College, Thavanoor, Fisheries College, Panangad, Horticultural College, Vellanikkara and College of Agriculture, Vellanikkara. The courses are Livestock Products Technology, Post-harvest Engineering Technology, Aquaculture, Fish Processing Technology and Plant Biotechnology. During the Question Hour, the members were informed that the irregularities detected in the Group Approach for Locally Adaptive Sustainable Agriculture (GALASA) programme implemented in the districts of Palakkad and Alappuzha, during 1997-98, had been confirmed on comprehensive inquiry and audit. The council felicitated scientists selected to receive various awards and recognitions. It was also decided to hold a special sitting of the general council, to evaluate the activities of the university in areas like education, research and extension.
