Narain slips to fourth

Chennai Dec. 1. After an extremely tough season, Narain Karthikeyan ended the year on a note of disappointment, taking only the fourth place overall in the Nissan World series, which concluded at the Spanish city of Parma.

When Narain entered the final round he was second in the championship standings. Unfortunately, however, he could not finish in second as a machine failure kept him out of the last race.

"Of course, I am upset, and who wouldn't be? When the car lets you down then there is nothing that can be done," said Narain when he was forced to the pits after detecting oil seepage after completing the warm-up lap.

Frenchman Frank Montagny was crowned the champion even before the last leg.
