Football
The match started with the Kolkata lads enjoying a better share of exchanges for the first 15 minutes with Jaten Rai and Gaurang Datta creating problems for the local team. The Goan outfit then took over and Yakubu Yusif headed in a goal in the 23rd minute. But the goal was disallowed by referee Arjunan for infringement on goalkeeper Chinmoy Banerjee. Later in the 37th minute of the first half Churchill had a chance to take the lead but John Kingsley, after collecting a pass from Yakubu, shot wide. In the second half also there was not much of action even as both the teams made desperate forays for the match-winner. Churchill had another good chance to take the match in the 79th minute but Ratan Singh missed an easy chance off a pass from Francis Afonso. UNI
