6 killed in poll violence

BHOPAL DEC. 1. At least six persons, including a woman, were today killed and poll-related communal clashes and arson broke out as sporadic violence marred Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, which witnessed a 60 per cent voter turnout.

The woman, Shashi Arora, was killed as she was caught in the crossfire between two warring groups in Bhind town. Neeraj was killed at Chachda village in Ater constituency and Kunwar Singh Bhadoria at Khurg village during a gunbattle between rivals.

One person each was killed in Daboh and Alampur of the Lahar constituency.

In late-night violence, Vijayram Sharma was killed in an exchange of fire between two groups in Bhind of Lahar constituency, while two persons were injured in a similar incident at Gadpara village falling under the Ron constituency.

Curfew was imposed in the Chhatripura police station area of Indore after stone-pelting between members of two communities and torching of vehicles over poll-related matters.
