Swarna fights her way into final

By Our Sports Reporter

Tamil Nadu State champion J. Swarna, who fought her way into the girls' singles final of the LIC junior National table tennis championship in Kochi on Monday.

KOCHI DEC. 1. She is quite a chatterbox on court, or rather, across the table tennis table. Muttering to herself, stomping her feet and pumping her fist, Tamil Nadu's J. Swarna makes a very lively picture.

On Monday, the Medimix-Chandra Academy trainee battled her way to the girls' singles final of the 65th LIC junior National table tennis championship at the Rajiv Gandhi indoor stadium here. The 16-year-old Chennai girl, seeded No. 4 here, bounced back from a first game loss to down Bengal's Sayantika Kundu with an action-packed attacking game.

The result set up an all-Tamil Nadu final, with the quiet K. Shamini being Swarna's opponent tomorrow.
